Laurence Grondin
Laurence Grondin isn't the latest pretty face or poker gimmick on the block (although she is extremely cute!); she is 100% living proof of a female player that can walk and talk in the poker world. Grondin turned pro in 2008 and has made over $150,000 from cash games, playing 9-12 tables from $1-2 to $5-10 which she continues to play do to this day.
Five years ago Grondin decided to deposit $25 online, her bankroll grew quickly and so did her confidence; moving onto low buy-in tournaments. After 3-4 months a good winning ratio meant she would take on live cash games; again slowly going up through the stakes on the Montréal scene, until a life changing trip to Atlantic City tripled her bankroll over night!. At the end of the year Grondin had shown a $40,000 profit online, playing around 20 hours a week online and live cash games. Laurence then had a major breakthrough in the live arena finishing 3rd in the $2,000 NHL event 36 at the World Series of Poker scooping $237,000 for her efforts.
"I wanted to be a professional tennis player but it didn't work out, although the vigorous training really helped me in poker tournaments - it's definitely where I developed my discipline and desire to destroy my opponents" (in the nicest possible sense of destroy!)
